DECEMBER 2010 ... PSV PRESIDENT "STEPS" ON ALL 7 CONTINENTS
Claire Lelli, President of the Photographic Society of Vineland, and her Teva sandals have “stepped” on ALL 7th Continent!.
It began in 2000, when Claire went to Africa on a Joseph Van Os Photo Tour to celebrate the new Millennium. Over the next nine years she went with Van Os to Australia. Traveled to Asia and Europe with her granddaughter, a budding classical music sing, who performed in those countries.
Claire has traveled to every state in North America, except Alaska. In her earlier years, via motorcycle!
Claire’s most recent venture was a Van Os trip to S.A. and the Antarctic. She spent two days in Ushuaia, Argentina and toured the area. It was then a ten day journey aboard a converted Russian icebreaker, to the Antarctic.
“It was the most strenuous trip ever”, states Claire. The seas were rough, so there was a lot of ”rocking & rolling, day & night. Trying to get a shower was quit a task! The dining area was all bolted down, however, things on the table were not!
I managed to get bronchitis and had to pay a visit to the ship’s doctor. This wore me out, as did trying to keep my balance, and then having to put all the cloths on when we made a landing ashore!
When packing, I realized my Teva sandals, would also claim the 7 continent bragging rights. I took them, and , as sick as I was and against doctor’s orders, I made the zodiac run to the first landing on the continent, placed them on the ground, got my picture taken, jumped back in the zodiac and went to bed!
